Al Gore twists Jesus' teachings to empower the state

Politico reports on Al Gore's speech over the weekend:

Playing off the focus of the Kennedy funeral on the Gospel of Matthew’s parable of Jesus taking care of “the least of us,” Gore thundered that the country has “a moral duty to pass health care reform. This year."

I went back and read Matthew 25:31-46 (the Sheep and the Goats), where the reference to "the least of these" is found, and I didn't see anything about empowering a violent tax-thieving agency like the IRS to steal money from people in order to give their property to the needy. Maybe they're reading a different version of the Bible. Mine just commands us to go take care of the needy, not call the kingdoms of this world to do it. It's a great message, too! Let's get busy taking care of those who need it!

Unfortuantely for Al Gore, just five chapters earlier, Jesus had prohibited his followers from seeking the power of the kingdoms of this world. Matthew 20:25-26a: "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you."

It really turns my stomach to see the mouth-pieces of the state invoke Jesus to advance their violent agendas when Jesus' message was one commanding abstinence from violent power. Christians should be out front explaining to the world that political power over others is contrary to the teachings of Jesus. We should be exposing the evil behind the government's mask of benevolence, and we should distance the name of Jesus from that wolf in sheep's clothing.

Mayoral candidate wants 1000-strong youth spy force

Florida Candidate For Mayor Wants 1,000-Strong Youth Spy Force
Falconer proposes swarms of citizen informers casing neighborhoods looking for suspicious behavior

Paul Joseph Watson - Prison Planet.com - Wednesday, August 26, 2009

A frontrunner to become Mayor of Orange County Florida proposes to combat crime in the area by creating a 1,000 person strong spy force who would cruise around neighborhoods on bikes reporting suspicious behavior to uniformed supervisors, a creepy program with dark undertones of the Hitler Youth program of 1930’s Nazi Germany.

Matthew Falconer, who professes to be a Libertarian, has been handing out a business card to potential voters outlining his platform.

On the back of the card, Falconer outlines his intention to, “Improve public safety by putting 1,000 additional observers on patrol in your neighborhood.”

Falconer’s website provides more detail as to what exactly this new program will entail.

My solution is to innovate. I call for the implementation of my “COPs” program (Citizen Observers). This program will put 1000 young people on bicycles with
radios patrolling our neighborhoods keeping our citizens safe. My mission is to prevent crime and move away from the responsive method of public safety in Orange County. The observers will ride through specific areas, seek out criminal behavior, and report events to a uniformed supervisor. They will also talk with residents to find out who is committing the crimes in the area and attempt to gather information to solve existing crimes.
Falconer’s website states that the “public safety personnel” will receive just $10 dollars an hour, meaning the cost of the entire program will amount to no more than $2.5 million dollars a year.

Falconer’s intention to “move away from the responsive method to public safety” and instead have poorly trained amateur teenage spies watching their neighbors and actively seeking out suspicious behavior with seemingly little accountability whatsoever sets a dangerous precedent. Even if the program has genuine intentions behind it, the potential for members of the 1,000 strong spy force to abuse their power to settle scores with neighbors they don’t like is clearly a possibility, which is exactly what has happened historically when citizens are afforded the power to inform on each other.

Falconer’s proposal is clearly anti-American and unconstitutional. Though some may argue that vigilantes are a good thing in an age of growing corruption and police brutality, the fact is that vigilantes are traditionally responsive to crime and act as watchmen, they do not spy on the innocent and actively seek out potential criminal behavior, as Falconer’s program outlines

Fears about the creation of an East German-style Stasi outfit that would keep an eye on Americans were raised in July of last year when President Barack Obama, during a speech on the campaign trail, promised a “national civilian security force” that would be just as powerful as the U.S. military.

As we have documented, informant programs that encourage Americans to spy on each other are already in operation across the country in a number of different guises.

The legacy of training Americans to spy on each other in the name of “safety” has its origins in Operation TIPS, which was supposedly nixed by Congress, a DOJ, FBI, DHS and FEMA coordinated program that would have recruited one in twenty-four Americans as domestic informants, a higher percentage than was used by the Stasi in Communist East Germany.

Government funding was cut after an outcry but private funding continues and the same program was introduced under a number of sub-divisions including AmeriCorps, SecureCorps and the Highway Watch program.

Similar programs being run bother privately and under government auspices are increasingly beginning to mirror the citizen denunciation campaigns that became prominent in Nazi Germany.

One common misconception about Nazi Germany was that the police state was solely a creation of the authorities and that the citizens were merely victims. On the contrary, Gestapo files show that 80% of all Gestapo investigations were started in response to information provided from denunciations by “ordinary” Germans.

“There were relatively few secret police, and most were just processing the information coming in. I had found a shocking fact. It wasn’t the secret police who were doing this wide-scale surveillance and hiding on every street corner. It was the ordinary German people who were informing on their neighbors,” wrote Robert Gellately of Florida State University.

Police steal stuff from cars to teach drivers a lesson

The Nanny State of Britain: First Story of the Day
David Kramer - LRC Blog - August 26, 2009
"Police 'steal' valuables from cars in a lesson for drivers"

Police are taking valuables from unlocked cars to teach drivers to be more careful. Motorists have been returning to vehicles to find that handbags, laptops and sat-navs have been replaced with a note telling them they can retrieve their belongings from a police station. The scheme has been introduced in Richmond upon Thames, South-West London, which suffers from a high number of thefts from cars – up 40 per cent in a year.

If they [the police] find valuables on display they will try to find the owner nearby, but if they cannot they will take the goods to Twickenham police station. Drivers who leave their car unlocked but with nothing on display will get a letter telling them to be more careful.
You didn’t really think that the British police would spend their time doing what they are actually paid to do—going after robbers, rapists, and murderers? That’s too dangerous.

The Bravest of Soldiers Repent: "I realized I was the terrorist"

Unfortunately, the anti-war movement in America has grown silent (with the exception of the courageous Cindy Sheehan). As The New American points out:

The election of Barack Obama to the Presidency has highlighted the foreign policy double standard that the activists on the left end of the political spectrum have exhibited, or should one say not exhibited, towards the President's war-centric foreign policy.

Obama is following the McCain plan for Iraq, doubling the U.S. forces in Afghanistan in addition to sharply increasing the number of private contractors operating in that region and bombing Pakistan on a regular basis. Yet, all of these actions, which in prior years would have been decried by those who consider themselves liberals/progressives, have seemingly fallen off the radar of the left-wing grassroots activists.

The Netroots Nation, an alliance of liberal activists, held their annual convention on August 13-16 in Pittsburgh which featured "the most concentrated gathering of progressive bloggers to date." Surprisingly, the issue of ending the multiple conflicts the United States is actively engaged in, which was such a big topic from prior years, was barely a blip on the agenda. Byron York, writing for the Washington Examiner, states: "Not too long ago, with a different president in the White House, the left was obsessed with America's wars. Now, they're not even watching."
For any who would be aghast that soldiers might oppose this war and peacefully refuse to participate, even to the point of repenting of their own "terrorist" actions, consider Lew Rockwell's comments on the violence of government power:
I get a kick out of this common definition of terrorism: “the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear.” So tell me, in what sense is the US state, and every state,
not involved in terrorism? The state threatens violence against the people as its normal order of business, to achieve its political goals of wealth and power at our expense. Instilling fear? That is its normal MO.

When the state, or its media and academic enablers, call people terrorists, it simply means: a group of gooks to be massacred. Now, maybe they are bad people too, or maybe they are victims, or maybe they don’t like being occupied by armed aliens, but certainly to libertarians, at least, “terrorists,” like all enemies of the state, should be innocent until proven guilty.

Hannan on American political principles. Great discussion about health care beginning at 4:40.

He addresses Michael Moore's fallacy about life expectancy being an accurate gauge of the quality of health care. (In reality, life expectancy reflects murder rates and lifestyle as much as it does health care.)

He also points out that bureaucrats outnumber doctors in the British system--the state is not efficient (and the sky is blue).

(Here's Hannan's famous speech at the EU denouncing British Prime Minister Gordon Brown)

Power and Immorality are now Noble: The Worship of Dead Statist Saints

If it weren't for the mainstream media and statist academia, the death of Ted Kennedy would not have become the worship of Ted Kennedy. Only in the twisted worldview of those state-worshipping entities, would power be noble and immorality be over-looked.

After all, what makes this man's life so honorable? Why the constant media coverage about his supposed "greatness"? I respect and love that he bore the image of God, and I always mourn death as a result of the fall and sin, but beyond that, I see zero reason for Christians or regular Americans to admire this man--a drunkard, a womanizer, and even a murderer. Worse yet, he devoted his life to the violent seizure of property from Americans for the benefit of the state and its allied criminal associates. As Lew Rockwell has pointed out, "Already, of course, Kennedy is being hailed as a man who always put the state and its interests first, and I am sure he did. 'He reached across the aisle' to expand the state. Yep."

Bill Anderson adds the following to the discussion:
I am reading commentary about Ted Kennedy that he was a “true believer,” including this fawning piece from CNN. Yet, what was it that he believed? Ted Kennedy believed that the state should confiscate most of your income, and should give you second-rate “benefits” in return. He believed that you as an individual had no right to resist attacks from criminal or the state (Is there a difference?), and that everyone should be forced to pay taxes for abortions and other things with which they disagree. In other words, Ted Kennedy believed that the state should be considered omniscient and omnipotent, and anyone who resisted should be crushed. And he is being lionized for those views. How sick. How evil.
People of conscience ought to ponder and meditate on the pure, noble, right, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. These are the attributes that we should aspire toward. But the talking heads on the mind-control device that we all subject ourselves to are telling us to admire the evil of government power.

Perhaps worst of all, one of the most prominent Christians in American politics is participating in the whole media-driven hype about this man, Ted Kennedy. Bill Anderson reports:
Almost on cue, Jim Wallis of Sojourners demands that we “honor” Ted Kennedy by having the state direct all (as opposed to most) medical care in this country. Writes Wallis:

"On the occasion of his death, I pray that God may now move us as a nation to address the greatest commitment of Sen. Kennedy’s life — the need for a comprehensive reform of the health-care system in America — as a deeply moral issue and one that calls forth the very best that is within us. May we honor the life and death of Sen. Edward Kennedy by laying aside the rancor, lies, fear, and even hate that has come to dominate the health-care debate in America this summer, and regain our moral compass by recovering the moral core of this debate: that too many Americans are hurting and suffering in a broken and highly inequitable health-care system, and that it is our moral obligation to repair and reform it — now."

Wallis writes of the “deep Catholic faith” of Kennedy, as though this hedonist who spent most of his adult life making a mockery of the Church and its moral directives actually cared about anything other than where he would have his next sexual conquest.
The religious right says Bush and the Republicans are true Christian crusaders for the cause of Jesus. The religious left says men like Ted Kennedy were true Christian crusaders for the cause of Jesus. Since when is the cause of Jesus a political one involving the kingdoms of this world using the power of the sword?

Government home visits under Obamacare

Under Obamacare, The Government Would Indoctrinate Your Kids
Chuck Norris slams Stalinist “home intrusion and indoctrination” program

Paul Joseph Watson - Prison Planet.com - Tuesday, August 11, 2009

TV star and political commentator Chuck Norris points out in an editorial today that under the Obamacare legislation currently being vociferously opposed in town halls across the country, the government would empower itself to carry out home intrusions and state re-education of children under a Stalinist indoctrination program.

“Obamacare is about the government’s coming into homes and usurping parental rights over child care and development,” writes Norris. “It’s outlined in sections 440 and 1904 of the House bill (Page 838), under the heading “home visitation programs for families with young children and families expecting children.” The programs (provided via grants to states) would educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills. The bill says that the government agents, “well-trained and competent staff,” would “provide parents with knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive, language, social, emotional, and motor domains … modeling, consulting, and coaching on parenting practices,” and “skills to interact with their child to enhance age-appropriate development.”

“Are you kidding me?! With whose parental principles and values? Their own? Certain experts’? From what field and theory of childhood development? As if there are one-size-fits-all parenting techniques! Do we really believe they would contextualize and personalize every form of parenting in their education, or would they merely universally indoctrinate with their own?,” writes Norris, questioning what the government would teach children about religion, morals and basic values, as well as issues like abortion.

“Do you want government agents coming into your home and telling you how to parent your children? When did government health care turn into government child care?,” asks Norris, pointing out that the program has Stalinist overtones in that it gives government the power to shape the very minds of future generations by “seizing parental and educational power, legislating preferred educational methods and materials, and limiting private educational options.”

The program outlined in the Obama health care reform bill sounds almost identical to programs already under way in the United Kingdom where the government usurps parental rights and assumes a guardianship role over the child.

As we reported earlier this month, the UK Labour government announced its intention to fund an expansion of its Family Intervention Projects, a program which is centered around home visits by state social workers whereby agents enter the private homes of citizens to ensure that children go to bed on time, attend school and eat proper meals.

Surveillance cameras are also installed in homes as well as state-run dormitories so government spies can keep an eye on whether parents are mistreating kids and whether the kids are fulfilling their obligations to the government under a pre-signed contract.

Another key aspect of the program is that parents deemed “responsible” by the government are handed the power to denounce and report bad parents who allow their children to engage in bad behavior. Such families are then targeted for “interventions”.

As Norris highlights in his editorial, under Obamacare, parents won’t be allowed to make a choice on whether they want government assistance in raising their children, they will be “targeted” by the state for home interventions, in exactly the same way the program works in the UK.

“One government rebuttal is that this program would be “voluntary.” Is that right?,” asks Norris. “Does that imply that this agency would just sit back passively until some parent needing parenting skills said, “I don’t think I’ll call my parents, priest or friends or read a plethora of books, but I’ll go down to the local government offices”? To the contrary, the bill points to specific targeted groups and problems, on Page 840: The state “shall identify and prioritize serving communities that are in high need of such services, especially communities with a high proportion of low-income families.”

Quoting Josef Stalin, “Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed,” Norris warns that universal health care could mean universal hell care if Obama’s health reform is allowed to proceed.

Obama to double the national debt

CIVICS NEWS Comment: This of course doesn't even count the $23 trillion in bailouts under Bush and Obama. Obama’s Spending Plans Will Nearly Double the National Debt
Terence P. Jeffrey - CNSNews - August 24, 2009

In news leaked late Friday to the Reuters news agency, the White House conceded that the national debt will increase by $9 trillion over the next ten years, nearly doubling a national debt that now stands at $11.67 trillion.

Until now, the White House had been estimating that the national debt would increase by $7.108 trillion between 2010 and 2019. On Friday evening, Reuters reported that an unnamed senior administration official was saying that a report due from the Office of Management and Budget on Tuesday would indicate that the debt would actually increase by $9 trillion during that period, almost $2 trillion more than the administration had previously estimated. RELATED: Report Reveals CIA Conducted Mock Executions

CIA Used Gun, Drill in Interrogation
Joby Warrick and R. Jeffrey Smith - Washington Post - Saturday, August 22, 2009

CIA interrogators used a handgun and an electric drill to try to frighten a captured al-Qaeda commander into giving up information, according to a long-concealed agency report due to be made public next week, former and current U.S. officials who have read the document said Friday.

The tactics — which one official described Friday as a threatened execution — were used on Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, according to the CIA’s inspector general’s report on the agency’s interrogation program. Nashiri, who was captured in November 2002 and held for four years in one of the CIA’s “black site” prisons, ultimately became one of three al-Qaeda chieftains subjected to a form of simulated drowning known as waterboarding.

The report also says that a mock execution was staged in a room next to one terrorism suspect, according to Newsweek magazine, citing two sources for its information. The magazine was the first to publish details from the report, which it did on its Web site late Friday. [...]

Health Care Bill Would Allow Feds To Snoop in Your Checkbook
KFYI News - Friday, August 21, 2009

Half of Congress is in recess, but debate continues over President Obama’s health care program concerning privacy.

Section 163 of the bill states that the government would be allowed real-time access to a person’s bank records – including direct access to bank accounts for electronic fund transfers.

Even-though the bill mentions privacy aspects, the fact remains that if approved, Obama’s health care plan will give the government permission at any time to your personal bank records.

Arizona Congressman John Shadegg says people have the right to be concerned.

“It’s pretty Orwellian, it certainly gets the government pretty darn deeply involved in private matters in our lives.”

Greenpeace head admits false info, calls for no economic growth

The out-going head of Greenpeace International, Gerd Leipold, recently made some very interesting statements, first admitting that his organization was wrong to invent a preposterous dooms-day climate change scenario, and secondly, stating that "we" should end economic growth in order to slow global warming.

Prison Planet reports on Greenpeace's claim that the entirety of the ice caps would melt in 20 years:
In an interview with the BBC’s Stephen Sackur on the “Hardtalk” program, Leipold initially attempted to evade the question but was ultimately forced to admit that Greenpeace had made a “mistake” when it said Arctic ice would disappear completely in 20 years.

The claim stems from a July 15 Greenpeace press release entitled “Urgent Action Needed As Arctic Ice Melts,” in which it is stated that global warming will lead to an ice-free Arctic by 2030.

Sackur accused Leipold and Greenpeace of releasing “misleading information” based on “exaggeration and alarmism,” pointing out that it was “preposterous” to claim that the Greenland ice sheet, a mass of 1.6 million square kilometers with a thickness of 3 km in the middle that has survived much warmer periods in history, would completely melt when it had stood firm for hundreds of thousands of years.

“There is no way that ice sheet is going to disappear,” said Sackur.

“I don’t think it will be melting by 2030. … That may have been a mistake,” Leipold was eventually forced to admit.
Now that's a big oops. Will the environmentalists admit that they were wrong on all of their other absurd predictions?

Despite the fact that Greenpeace has put out fake global warming information, we are still expected to take seriously their key policy prescription: suppress economic growth. So, bring in poverty as a trade-off for slowing the warming of the earth [that is, if CO2 actually causes global warming, a claim hotly disputed by many scientists (also here w/ several links at the bottom of the article) and a notion not supported by Americans]. On the matter of Greenpeace's call for supressing economic growth, Climate Depot reports:
The outgoing leader of Greenpeace has issued a call for the suppression of economic growth in the U.S. and Western nations. Under questioning by BBC reporter Stephen Sackur on the August 5, 2009 “Hardtalk” program, Gerd Leipold, the retiring leader of Greenpeace, said “the lifestyle of the rich in the world is not a sustainable model.

Excerpt from NotEvilJustWrong.com: “Leipold told the BBC that there is an urgent need for the suppression of economic growth in the United States and around the world. He said annual growth rates of 3 percent to 8 percent cannot continue without serious consequences for the climate.”

“We will definitely have to move to a different concept of growth. … The lifestyle of the rich in the world is not a sustainable model,” Leipold told the BBC.

“If you take the lifestyle, its cost on the environment, and you multiply it with the billions of people and an increasing world population, you come up with numbers which are truly scary,” Leipold explained.

You can watch the full BBC interview with Leipold here or here.
This is not the first time an environmentalist has called for economic recession as a solution . As I previously posted under the heading, Maurice Strong, global warming, and economic collapse:
"The rich countries won’t do it. They won’t change. [...] Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilization collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?” --Maurice Strong, co-creator of Kyoto Protocol

Our economic demise. Is it part of the motivation behind the climate cult? Kyoto Protocol, of course, is the climate treaty that punishes wealthier nations for their "carbon footprint," but gives developing nations a pass, leading many to accuse Kyoto-promoters of attempting to lower the standard of living of developed nations, accomplishing some degree of a worldwide socialistic economic leveling. Strong's quotation above seems to support those accusations.

Restrictions anger G-20 protest planners
Carl Prine - Pittsburgh Tribune Review - Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Anger is rising among demonstrators denied permits to protest next month’s Group of 20 economic summit.

A coalition of anti-war groups led by the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom and Code Pink met Monday at the Thomas Merton Center in Garfield to revamp plans scuttled by the use of Point State Park as a command center by the Secret Service and Pittsburgh police.

Several environmental and peace organizations had hoped to use the state-owned park from Sept. 20-25 to voice dissent against policies of government and finance leaders from the 19 nations and European Union who will meet here.

Processed meat causes cancer

Don’t give children ham sandwiches, say cancer experts
Jenny Hope - UK Daily Mail - Monday, August 17, 2009

Ham sandwiches are given to thousands of children every day in packed lunches.

Many parents regard them as a healthy option. Now, however, parents are being urged not to put the sandwiches in their children’s lunch boxes – because of the cancer risk.

Ham, bacon and other types of processed meat raise the risk of bowel cancer over a lifetime, according to a cancer charity.

Giving sandwich fillers such as ham and salami to children means they get into habits that increase their risk of developing cancer later in life, it claims.

Healthier alternatives are fish, low-fat cheese, houmous, or small amounts of unprocessed, lean meat such as chicken.

Scientists estimate that in the UK about 3,700 bowel cancer cases could be prevented if everyone ate less than 70grams of processed meat a week, which is roughly the equivalent of three rashers of bacon. [...]

Demonic rituals at the White House

Voodoo in Obama’s White House
Kurt Nimmo - Infowars - August 17, 2009

Kristen Atkinson, a blogger over at the Townhall website, has posted an article claiming Marian Robinson, the 72-year old first grandmother who lives at the White House, is practicing Santería, otherwise known as voodoo. A close friend of Michelle Obama says the president became furious at his mother-in-law.

According to Atkinson, Marian Robinson became increasingly frustrated as her husband, Fraser Robinson, was hobbled by multiple sclerosis in the late 1980s, and turned to “Santeria in a desperate hope” to cure him. “Michelle put her foot down when she heard that her mother took her dad to ceremonies where they did spells and trances, and sacrificed animals, chickens and goats I think. But Marian was desperate and kept going anyway, even when her husband was to sick to go with her. I don’t think the president knew anything about this earlier because it was before they met. Michelle and Craig (her brother) wanted to close the book on this and never talked about it again after their father died in 1991.”

Robinson, concerned about her failing health, invited an old friend from Chicago to visit her at the White House and the friend performed a Santeria ceremony in the residence. “No voodoo in the White House. Absolutely. I don’t care what you call it,” Obama allegedly declared.

Obama may be outraged by a voodoo priestess chanting in the White House, but paganism at the highest levels of government is nothing new or particularly shocking.

The global elite pulling Obama’s strings are dedicated paganists and their religion is based on the mystery school religions of Sumer and Babylon. “Most modern human beings are convinced that … pagan gods passed into the dustbin of history two millenia ago, but we suspect that this may not be the case. Repeatedly throughout history, the elites of the Great World Empire have been attracted to religious secret societies such as these, which maintain a high regard for the ancient pagans,” write Jerry Russell and Richard Stanley.

A prime example of the global elite’s obsession with the mystery school religions is the Bohemian Grove ritual, where the hand-picked minions of the elite — 1,500 of America’s most influential CEOs, government officials, financiers, industrialists, and media moguls — worship a giant 40-foot owl and sacrifice a mock human being in effigy they call Dull Care. Members include former presidents George W. Bush, his father, Henry Kissinger, and David Rockefeller.

For more on Bohemian Grove and the elite, see the Prison Planet archive.

Another example is Skull and Bones, aka The Order of Death, a secret society that has George W. Bush and John Kerry as members. Skull and Bones features bizarre occult initiation rituals and an obsession with death. Numerous Bonesmen can be traced to positions of enormous influence, including the Federal Reserve, the Council on Foreign Relations, captains of industry, and all branches of the establishment. The secretive gathering at Bohemian Grove is an off-shoot of Skull and Bones.

The British press has exposed the occult activities of Cherie Blair and her famous husband, Tony Blair, the former prime minister. In 2004 the London Times reported on the fact that Tony Blair had made political decisions based on new age readings. “Among the milder activities Cherie Blair is said to have taken jars of her own and her husband’s hair and nail clippings to health guru who ‘dowsed’ the jars by waving a pendulum over them to detect ‘poisons and blockages’ that could affect the Blairs,” Steve Watson wrote for Prison Planet on September 21, 2005.

“This all sounds bizarre and incredible, you couldn’t make it up. Yet we have seen again and again how elite figures are obsessed with these kinds of activities,” Watson comments. “It seems that with absolute power comes an urge to tap into the dark side of humanity and any kind of underworld that lies beyond. It is therefore not surprising that our so called leaders and decision makers that have led us into a period of intense conflict and disharmony around the world are the same people who pander to and in many cases engage in such dark occult activities.”

It is also not surprising that Obama’s mother-in-law paraded around the White House with a voodoo priestess, although this may not have anything to do with the elite’s obsession with mystery religions, the occult, secret societies, and The Order of Death.

However, it is suspicious that Obama carries around “charms,” as documented by Time Magazine. One of Obama’s charms happens to be an image of Hanuman, as known as Bajrang Bali, the monkey god and one of the most revered gods in the Hindu religion, the largest pagan religion in the world.

Isn’t it strange that Obama, described ad nauseam as a Christian, would carry around a pagan idol?

Manufactured crisis to pass health bill, martial law?

Government Will Hype Fall Swine Flu Outbreak To Save Obamacare, Warns Armey
Former House leader says government is preparing to exploit fear to reinvigorate support behind failing agenda

Paul Joseph Watson - Prison Planet.com - Monday, August 17, 2009

Former Congressman and House Majority Leader Dick Armey warns that the government is planning to exploit a hyped swine flu outbreak this fall in order to reinvigorate support behind its failing Obamacare agenda.

Armey is confident that the grass roots backlash against Obamacare will cause the plan to fail, but warns that the government has one last trick up its sleeve which it is preparing to pull in the next few months.

The former House leader told the Financial Times that wavering lawmakers in both parties might be won over by an engineered crisis that the Obama administration is planning to exploit.

“In September or October there will be a hyped up outbreak of the swine flu which they’ll say is as bad as the bubonic plague to scare the bed-wetters to vote for healthcare reform,” said Mr Armey. “That is the only way they can push something on to the American people that the American people don’t want.”

As we reported last week, Georgia Congressman Paul Broun gave a similar warning when he told attendees of a town hall event Tuesday that the Obama administration was planning to use a pandemic or a natural disaster to implement martial law in the United States.

Speaking at the North Georgia Technical College auditorium, Broun said that the “socialistic elite,” as well as Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, were planning to exploit a crisis to create a favorable climate for their stalling political agenda.

“They’re trying to develop an environment where they can take over,” he said. “We’ve seen that historically.”

Health authorities as well as Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano have been hyping the inevitability of swine flu’s deadlier return this fall ever since it first appeared in April.

Despite the fact that the virus has proven far less potent than the common flu, governments across the world have been preparing to roll out mass vaccination campaigns which are set to begin next month, despite the fact that the shots will contain mercury and squalene and have also been linked with the killer nerve disease Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

National Guard units have been training to deal with riots and unrest in relation to the imminent vaccination program, using schools as staging areas for drills that are focused around subduing unruly citizens.

Pentagon hopes to deploy 400,000 soldiers in America

The Pentagon Wants Authority to Post Almost 400,000 Military Personnel in U.S.
The Progressive - Matthew Rothschild - August 12, 2009

The Pentagon has approached Congress to grant the Secretary of Defense the authority to post almost 400,000 military personnel throughout the United States in times of emergency or a major disaster.

This request has already occasioned a dispute with the nation’s governors. And it raises the prospect of U.S. military personnel patrolling the streets of the United States, in conflict with the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.

In June, the U.S. Northern Command distributed a “Congressional Fact Sheet” entitled “Legislative Proposal for Activation of Federal Reserve Forces for Disasters.” That proposal would amend current law, thereby “authorizing the Secretary of Defense to order any unit or member of the Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Navy Reserve, and the Marine Corps Reserve, to active duty for a major disaster or emergency.”

Taken together, these reserve units would amount to “more than 379,000 military personnel in thousands of communities across the United States,” explained Paul Stockton, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs, in a letter to the National Governors Association, dated July 20.

The governors were not happy about this proposal, since they want to maintain control of their own National Guard forces, as well as military personnel acting in a domestic capacity in their states.

“We are concerned that the legislative proposal you discuss in your letter would invite confusion on critical command and control issues,” Governor James H. Douglas of Vermont and Governor Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, the president and vice president of the governors’ association, wrote in a letter back to Stockton on August 7. The governors asserted that they “must have tactical control over all . . . active duty and reserve military forces engaged in domestic operations within the governor’s state or territory.”

According to Pentagon public affairs officer Lt. Col. Almarah K. Belk, Stockton has not responded formally to the governors but understands their concerns.

“There is a rub there,” she said. “If the Secretary calls up the reserve personnel to provide support in a state and retains command and control of those forces, the governors are concerned about if I have command and control of the Guard, how do we ensure unity of effort and everyone is communicating and not running over each other.”

Belk said Stockton is addressing this problem. “That is exactly what Dr. Stockton is working out right now with the governors and DHS and the National Guard,” she said. “He’s bringing all the stakeholders together.”

Belk said the legislative change is necessary in the aftermath of a “catastrophic natural disaster, not beyond that,” and she referred to Katrina, among other events.

But NorthCom’s Congressional fact sheet refers not just to a “major disaster” but also to “emergencies.” And it says, “Those terms are defined in section 5122 of title 42, U.S. Code.”

That section gives the President the sole discretion to designate an event as an “emergency” or a “major disaster.” Both are “in the determination of the President” alone.

That section also defines “major disaster” by citing plenty of specifics: “hurricane, tornado, storm, high water, wind-driven water, tidal wave, tsunami, earthquake, volcanic eruption, landslide, mudslide, snowstorm, or drought,” as well as “fire, flood, or explosion.”

But the definition of “emergency” is vague: “Emergency means any occasion or instance for which, in the determination of the President, Federal assistance is needed to supplement State and local efforts and capabilities to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in any part of the United States.”

Currently, the President can call up the Reserves only in an emergency involving “a use or threatened use of a weapon of mass destruction” or “a terrorist attack or threatened terrorist attack in the United States that results, or could result, in significant loss of life or property,” according to Title 10, Chapter 1209, Section 12304, of the U.S. Code. In fact, Section 12304 explicitly prohibits the President from calling up the Reserves for any other “natural or manmade disaster, accident, or catastrophe.”

So the new proposed legislation would greatly expand the President’s power to call up the Reserves in a disaster or an emergency and would extend that power to the Secretary of Defense. (There are other circumstances, such as repelling invasions or rebellions or enforcing federal authority, where the President already has the authority to call up the Reserves.)

The ACLU is alarmed by the proposed legislation. Mike German, the ACLU’s national security policy counsel, expressed amazement “that the military would propose such a broad set of authorities and potentially undermine a 100-year-old prohibition against the military in domestic law enforcement with no public debate and seemingly little understanding of the threat to democracy.”

At the moment, says Pentagon spokesperson Belk, the legislation does not have a sponsor in the House or the Senate.

Humorous moment

The New York Times' Paul Krugman is a Nobel Prize-winning economist an avid supporter of government-run health care as in Canada.

Health insurance companies are not your friends

To oppose the evil of Obamacare is not to support the status quo or to support the activity of the health insurance companies. It is a great myth that Obama's opponents are allied with the health insurance companies and that conservatives and libertarians support health care as practiced in America today. Here's a great editorial that debunks that myth and exposes how health insurers are NOT advocates of free market competition. The big insurance companies, just as many big corporations in other industries, go to the government for special subsidies and even government-granted monopoly privilege. The evil of corporations is not that they are big or that they engage in free and voluntary trade while paying market wages (which are low for unskilled labor). The evil of corporations is when they use the violence of the state to advance their business. This is the case with the health insurance companies.

Obama making deals with lobbyists he criticized!

Why are people surprised that Obama was a total liar? This is government, we're talking about. A campaign is just acting. Appearances of the president on TV are mere theatre.

It should come as a surprise to no one that Big Pharma, the biggest lobbying complex in Washington, would control Obama just as Bush before him. You don't actually think the president answers to the people or the Constitution, do you?

The good news is that the people are waking up.

Obama in favor of "mandatory national service."

As catalogued in the archive under National "Service", one of the central agendas of the Obama people has been compulsory national service. A new audio clip has been captured and put out in this short compilation where Obama says that he is in favor of "mandatory national service." Young people: get ready to serve the state.

The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

Obama continues doing Bush-style signing statements

As posted in July, Obama is a carbon copy of Bush on the matter of executive power. Signing statements, which were a hallmark of the Bush power-grab are continued under the Obama presidency. And the practice of selectively enforcing (rather than 'faithfully executing' as the Constitution requires) the will of the people's Congress continues to expand under Obama.

Swine flu jab link to killer nerve disease
Leaked letter reveals concern of neurologists over 25 deaths in America
Jo Macfarlane - UK Daily Mail - Sunday, August 16, 2009

A warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter.

The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.

It tells the neurologists that they must be alert for an increase in a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), which could be triggered by the vaccine.GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal.

The letter, sent to about 600 neurologists on July 29, is the first sign that there is concern at the highest levels that the vaccine itself could cause serious complications.

It refers to the use of a similar swine flu vaccine in the United States in 1976 when:

-More people died from the vaccination than from swine flu.
-500 cases of GBS were detected.
-The vaccine may have increased the risk of contracting GBS by eight times.
-The vaccine was withdrawn after just ten weeks when the link with GBS became clear.
-The US Government was forced to pay out millions of dollars to those affected. [...]

The Prosperity Doctrine

In the Dark Ages, the Catholic Church practiced the infamously corrupt abuse of selling indulgences. The ignorant masses who were not permitted to read the Bible thought that the priest class controlled the eternal destiny of common people and also thought that clergy could influence the state of "departed souls." Supposed representatives of Christ would tell the people to give them money in exchange for forgiveness of sins, or in exchange for the advancement of loved ones from "Purgatory" to "Paradise."

You thought the Reformers ended the practice of selling indulgences, didn't you. So did I. Until I read this out of the New York Times: Believers Invest in the Gospel of Getting Rich. (I thought the Copelands and their fellow televangelist travelers were discredited years ago...how are they still around!?)

The Prosperity Gospel is nothing more than a modern form of selling indulgences. The glittering celebrity-televangelists promote a distorted view of God and rake in the donations in the process. Kenneth Copeland tells the poor souls who are seeking truth and aid from church leaders that those who donate to their multi-million dollar "ministry" will get a special magical prayer from Saint Copeland--the Cardinal of Cash, the Pope of Prosperity, the Bishop of Bucks. And these prayers will bring you riches! Because Copeland has special access to the Most High, just as Catholic priests had.

So, the ignorant masses give their money in exchange for prayers. How different is this from the sale of indulgences, really? Where is the gospel in all of this? Where is the calling to deny self, to take up our cross, and to live like Jesus lived? Absent. It has to be absent because the Prosperity Gospel runs contrary to the teachings of Jesus. "Have enough 'faith,' give money to televangelists, and you'll get rich quick"--where is this in the message of Jesus, which calls us to be entirely others-centered?

I won't be the judge of the Copelands' motives or of their hearts. I don't doubt that God has used them for good. God uses all of us despite our errors. But at the same time, where the actions and words of prominent Christians mischaracterize the gospel of Jesus, when it borders on becoming a false gospel, good Christians must expose it for what it is.

Jesus as Crusader, a tragic misrepresentation

Jesus did NOT Kill Mohammed
Sojourners - Jarrod McKenna - 05/13/2009

Jesus Killed Mohammed” was written in Arabic in large red letters on the side of a U.S. Army Special Forces vehicle, armed to kill and rolling through a town in Iraq. It sounds like a bad Mad-Maxesque Hollywood adaption of the Crusades set in our contemporary context. The scene gets more chilling and horrific:

Then, while they put the translator on the roof with a bullhorn, shouting in Arabic, ‘Jesus killed Mohammed,’ … training American guns on anybody who responded, the Bradley fighting vehicle rolled out into the city of Samarra and drawing fire everywhere it went, leading the Special Forces to conclude that every single Iraqi who took offense at these words, ‘Jesus killed Mohammed,’ was part of the enemy and therefore needed to be destroyed.

The driver of this vehicle went on to “blow up everything he saw” because he explained later, “God was on his side.” But this is not just a terrible movie where we can simply pick up our popcorn and walk out in protest. This scene is not from a form of sadomasochistic voyeurism that so often passes for ‘film’ and gets sold to us as soul-numbing entertainment. This scene is out of the brave and chilling article by Jeff Sharlet exposing horrors of a contemporary fundamentalist right-wing Constantinian “Christianity” that has divorced itself from the ‘foolish’ nonviolence of the cross and has prostituted itself to another violent military-industrial-growth-complex, like the one that crucified Christ.

While the U.S. military is seeking to go into damage control and discipline soldiers who have broken the proselytizing laws, the church must also deal with the damage to our witness that saying “Jesus is the Way” while failing to live “the Way of Jesus” causes. There are deep questions we as the church must ask that go to the heart of who God is, what the gospel is, and what God’s grace calls us to and empowers us for.

The scriptures are clear:

“We know that we have come to know [Christ] if we obey his commands. The person that says, ‘I know [Christ],’ but does not do what [Christ] commands is a liar, and the truth is not in them. But if anyone obeys [Christ’s] word, God’s love is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in [Christ]: Whoever claims to live in [Christ] must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:3-6)

As my mate Greg Boyd puts it in his timely and important new book, The Myth of the Christian Religion,

“… the clearest evidence that we are being transformed by God’s love and participating in the Kingdom that is not ‘of this world’ is that we adopt the same nonviolent, self-sacrificial stance toward enemies that Jesus had.”

Another prophetic book, recently re-released that calls us as the church to be (what Greg would call), “a giant Jesus in the world”, is Lee Camp’s Mere Discipleship. Lee reminds us,

“[The early churches] model of evangelism … if you wish the world to believe what you say, you must live as if you believe what you say … Evangelism is not selling Jesus, but showing Jesus; evangelism is not mere telling about Christ, but about being Christ.”

In our ministry, we are encountering a generation that wants to repent of a Christianity that looks like the violent injustice of Empires seen in the Crusades. This generation is hungry to embrace a Christianity that looks like the justice-seeking nonviolent ‘kingdom’ seen in Christ. And this is no longer just a fringe movement. You can listen to the audio here (or downloadable here) from one of Australia’s largest churches where “Living God’s Love: The Way of The Cross” is being preached and how the Spirit is moving and empowering a generation to live God’s Calvary-shaped love for ‘the least of these.’

This generation realizes that biblically, the only way the church practices “evangelism” and “mission” is to live and love like Christ, in such ways that others ask of us “why do your lives look like love, grace, and peace?” When we “walk as Jesus did,” our lives will provoke such questions. And we will be read to answer, “Our God is love. Jesus’ gospel of the kingdom is grace. And we are empowered by the Spirit to live a kingdom peace.” Our generation is waking up to realize that killing for Jesus makes as much sense as shagging for celibacy.

Shutting down opposition to Obama health care

An Obama-connected group called "Health Care for America Now" is calling for Brownshirt tactics against health care opponents, whom they label "right-wing extremists" (check out the polls on how people feel about Obama's health care program and see how extreme they are). It does not come as a surprise that an authoritarian program will be advanced through authoritarian means. This is government we are talking about, after all.

Rumsfeld's Pentagon put out Bible verses as Empire's veneer

I've said before that the "Christian" side of the Crusades ought to be more abhorrent to the Christ-follower than the Muslim side, because Rome was claiming to represent Christ, while the Muslims were not.

Well, here's a contemporary example of this principle. Donald Rumsfeld's once classified "Worldwide Intelligence Update" associates the Word of God with the imperial ambitions of the Pentagram...er, Pentagon. Viewing this should turn the stomach of the disciple of Jesus.

How horribly evil it is that the invasion and occupation of Iraq that led to the death of 1 million Iraqis and which left 4.5 million displaced and 5 million orphaned (No wonder Iraqis prefer life under the hated Saddam!) is considered act of Christianity. In reality, a "Crusade," as Rumsfeld branded it, is not of Christ, but quite the opposite. Christ taught us to love our enemies, not to kill innocent people who happen to live in a country ruled by a regime that the governments of this world declare to be an enemy regime.

Here's the slide show put together by GQ showing how Rumsfeld's Pentagon mixed Bible verses in with their military exploits in a disgusting attempt to bring divine sanction to the military-industrial-complex. Unfortunately, far too many Christians were echoing these misrepresentations of Christ, but perhaps there is truly an awakening and a movement of repentance within the Christian church today.

Rand Paul (running for Senate) on economy, health care

A Christian perspective on Hiroshima, Nagasaki

CIVICS NEWS Comment: As Greg Boyd points out, anything that does not look and act like Jesus as revealed in the gospels, anything that does not resemble the life he taught us to live, cannot properly be called "Christian." This means loving our enemies, doing good to those who hate us, and of course, avoiding the mass murder of innocent civilians.

Truman, war criminal?
Lew Rockwell.com Blog -
Walter Block - August 6, 2009 12:18 PM

A very evil op-ed appeared in the War Street Journal today: It argues that the US atom bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was justified because it obviated an Allied landing on Japanese soil, which would have cost many, many more lives—American, Japanese, and other Oriental lives too. But, even assuming, arguendo, ALL of the implicit premises of this author (the war was justified in the first place; unconditional surrender was required—not the face saving conditional surrender the Japanese would have accepted at this point; this was not the opening battle in the Cold War), his conclusion still does not logically follow. For, the US could have first dropped these weapons of mass destruction on uninhabited Japanese islands as a demonstration of their terrible power. Only afterwards, if no unconditional surrender were forthcoming, would such heinous acts be justified (remember, I am still operating according to the implicit premises of the warmongers.)

If I may add one thing to Dr. Block’s excellent post, several high-ranking military officers thought that an invasion of Japan would not be necessary, including General Curtis LeMay and Admiral William Leahy.

Indeed, according to the United States Strategic Bombing Survey, “the eventual decision to surrender would have been made, certainly by the end of 1945 and probably before November, the month set for the initial invasion of the home islands, without the additional persuasion of the atom bomb, Russia’s entry into the war, or amphibious invasion” (Wesley F. Craven and James L. Cate, eds., The Army Air Forces in World War II [Chicago, University of Chicago Press, 1953], vol. 5, p. 741).

Obama science advisor: Toddlers are not human beings

CIVICS NEWS Comment: To John Holdren, Obama's chief science advisor, it takes "years after birth" to "develop into a human being." Was this a slip of the tongue? Considering Holdren's desire to set up a planetary regime with a global police force to enforce Chinese-style population control measures including forced sterilization and forced abortion, this is not actually that surprising. Devaluing the life of an infant and advocating infanticide would be the next logical step down this dark path.

Holdren: Infants Not Human Beings
Jurriaan Maessen - Prisonplanet.com - August 7, 2009

The infamous Holdren quotes from the 1977 ‘Ecoscience’ textbook, proposing forced sterilizations and other draconian measures to bring about mass death, are no incidental exercises in academic frivolity. In the 1973 publication ‘Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions’, co-authored by his old buddies, the Ehrlichs, Holdren wrote quite candidly about his basic view on human life, providing us with a peek at the decaying undergrowth out of which the Ecoscience document has emerged, proposing among other things a ‘planetary regime’ to assume command of matters of life and death.

In chapter 8 of the ‘Human Ecology’-document, page 235, Holdren gives us his definition of human life:

“The fetus“, Holdren writes, “given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being.”

In other words, Holdren argues that people during the early years after birth, cannot yet be defined as human beings. Given this presumption by Obama’s science advisor, it may not come as a surprise that he does not shy away from coercive abortion policies or other such measures to scale back the population. After all, if an infant cannot be construed as being a human being, as Holdren argues, God-given rights do not apply to them nor does constitutional protection- and therefore they can be deemed as completely at the government’s mercy. Obama’s dissident database could be secret — and permanent

Obama’s dissident database could be secret — and permanent
Byron York - Washington Examiner - August 6, 2009

Editor’s note: See our article from August 5, White House Asks People to Spy on Health Care Dissidents.

The White House request that members of the public report anyone who is spreading “disinformation” about the proposed national health care makeover could lead to a White House database of political opponents that will be both secret and permanent, according to Republican lawyers on the Senate Judiciary Committee who are examining the plan’s possible implementation.

On Monday, White House director of new media Macon Phillips posted a note on the White House web site complaining of “disinformation about health insurance reform.” “These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation,” Phillips wrote. “Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

In a letter to Obama Tuesday, Republican Sen. John Cornyn wrote that, given Phillips’ request, “it is inevitable that the names, email address, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens will be reported to the White House.” Cornyn warned the president that “these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program.”

“I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward emails critical of his policies to the White House,” Cornyn continued. “I urge you to cease this program immediately.” [...]

Snitch on your neighbors for owning a weapon

The American snitch-society is being further fostered by our masters. This poster calls on citizens to spy on their neighbors and turn them in for "illegal" activity including owning a weapon (owning a weapon is illegal?... the state must maintain a monopoly on the use of force, and citizens must be alienated from their means of self-defense).

Regarding the Nazi spy society, Robert Gellately of Florida State University writes, "It wasn’t the secret police who were doing this wide-scale surveillance and hiding on every street corner. It was the ordinary German people who were informing on their neighbors,”

"Fetuses" have memories

Fetuses found to have memories
Jennifer Harper - Washington Times - Thursday, July 16, 2009

CIVICS NEWS image: "Just a blob of tissue."

They weigh less than 3 pounds, usually, and are perhaps 15 inches long. But they can remember.
The unborn have memories, according to medical researchers who used sound and vibration stimulation, combined with sonography, to reveal that the human fetus displays short-term memory from at least 30 weeks gestation - or about two months before they are born.

"In addition, results indicated that 34-week-old fetuses are able to store information and retrieve it four weeks later," said the research, which was released Wednesday.

Scientists from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maastricht University Medical Centre and the University Medical Centre St. Radboud, both in the Netherlands, based their findings on a study of 100 healthy pregnant women and their fetuses with the help of some gentle but precise sensory stimulation.

On five occasions during the last eight weeks of their pregnancies, the women received a series of one-second buzzes on their bellies with a "fetal vibroacoustic stimulator," a hand-held diagnostic device used to gauge an unborn baby's heart rate and general well-being.

The baby's responses - primarily eye, mouth and body movements - were closely monitored over the weeks with ultrasound imaging to gauge "fetal learning" patterns. The researchers found that the babies acclimated themselves to the sounds and vibrations to the point that they no longer bothered to respond - a process known as "habituation."

"The stimulus is then accepted as 'safe' " by the babies, the study said.

The team also found that the tiny test subjects actually improved these skills as they grew older, with those who were 34- or 36-weeks old clearly showing that they had become familiar with the hum outside the womb.

"The fetus 'remembers' the stimulus and the number of stimuli needed for the fetus to habituate is then much smaller," the study said.

"It seems like every day we find out marvelous new things about the development of unborn children. We hope that this latest information helps people realize more clearly that the unborn are members of the human family with amazing capabilities and capacities like these built in from the moment of conception," said Randall K. O'Bannon, director of education and research for the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund.

A call to NARAL Pro-Choice America for comment on the implications of the research were not returned. [...]

Christianity and War

A book every Christian should read! (Or in this case listen to?)

Norman Horn at Libertarian Christians.com has done us all a favor by making audio recordings of Laurance Vance's superb work, Christianity and War. I recommend reading the book, but if you're too busy, listen as you do other things. Here's where you can get the feed or download the first chapter. I have the iTunes version, which is working out great, as I put the podcast on my iPod as new chapters are released.

You might recognize the name Laurance Vance from the link on the right side-bar of this page where I link to his archive at Lew Rockwell.com. You also may remember this excellent speech he gave, which I posted previously. Vance is one of the greatest assets of evangelical Christianty today. In my view, he is the single most persuasive and thorough advocate of the teachings of Jesus on non-violence, leading the way as a witness against war and empire--something the church desperately needs.

Troops to enforce law in Alabama?

Alabama County May Call In Troops To Perform Law Enforcement Duties
Another reflection of America’s decline into a Soviet-style militarized police state

Paul Joseph Watson - Prison Planet.com - Wednesday, August 5, 2009

The implementation of martial law in America advanced a step further yesterday when the sheriff of Alabama’s most populous county said he would probably have to bring in National Guard troops to perform law enforcement duties due to budget cuts.

Plans to slash $4.1 million from the budget of Sheriff Mike Hale by Jefferson County commissioners in order to head off a municipal bankruptcy filing were approved by Circuit Judge Joseph L. Boohaker.

“A spokesman for Hale, Randy Christian, said the sheriff told Riley after the ruling that state assistance may be needed to perform basic law enforcement tasks once the department’s current funding is exhausted in early September,” reports the Associated Press.

“We will certainly be looking at calling in the National Guard,” said Christian.

Jefferson County has 640,000 residents and includes the state’s largest city, Birmingham
Moves to replace traditional law enforcement with National Guard troops have been replicated in other parts of the country, including in Schenectady New York, where budgetary constraints were not even cited as a reason for the changeover.

After a handful of police officers were accused of assaulting citizens, Mayor Brian Stratton proposed declaring martial law and replacing the city’s entire roster of cops with National Guardsmen.

“It may be that as a stopgap measure, that you would need military forces – State Police, National Guard.” the Mayor said.

The use of military assets in civilian law enforcement is still illegal under Posse Comitatus, unless a clear state of emergency exists. The misbehavior of a few cops or the inability of a Sheriff to manage a budget cut does not constitute a state of emergency.

In this context, without the justification of an existing crisis that mandates National Guard intervention, the threat to replace police officers with troops on a whim is a sad reflection of how America is turning into a Soviet style military police state, as law enforcement increasingly shifts over to Homeland Security and Northcom controlled military assets.
