Why the political Traditional Marriage Crusade is dangerous

My friend, Michael Peabody, in a recent (and excellent) article on marriage and religious liberty, inserted this juicy morsel:
Churches that are willing to argue that religious liberty does not extend to marriage are also asserting their power to limit the “rights” of other churches to perform same-sex marriages, and could soon see their own liberties limited in other areas through operation of their own logic if the political winds shift.

He's not in favor of same-sex marriage, nor is he in favor of state-recognized same-sex marriage. Most Christians are only concerned about a secularized society, but Peabody raises the important point that a theocratized state would be just as (if not more) dangerous to liberty of conscience.
