Secession Day, 2009
The great Lincoln critic, Thomas DiLorenzo, just yesterday wished you a happy Secession Day: "Secession = Freedom in the words of Thomas Jefferson, the great anti-Lincoln."
Isn't it a little ironic that we are taught to celebrate the American colonial secession from the British Empire in 1776, while at the same time we are taught to despise the secession of the southern states in 1861? The British war of conquest against its rebel states was evil, but Lincoln's was just? Really? And if you're wondering, Lincoln did not invade the south and kill tens of thousands of civilians through total war for the purpose of freeing slaves; Lincoln's invasion was simply a brutal effort in preventing southern states from asserting their Jeffersonian rights, which were so beautifully articulated in the Declaration of Independence.

Limited federal government, free press, separation of church and state... why would such a GREAT president prevent these practices veiled behind the facade of ending slavery?
