Israel fighting "religious war" against "Gentiles"

Soldier Says Rabbis Pushed 'Religious War' in Gaza
Lew Rockwell.com Blog - David Kramer -3/21/09

The latest news about "the only Democracy in the Middle East" the United States supports with taxpayer money and weapons:

"Rabbis in the Israeli army told battlefield troops in January's Gaza offensive they were fighting a "religious war" against gentiles, according to one army commander's account published Friday.

"Their message was very clear: we are the Jewish people, we came to this land by a miracle, God brought us back to this land and now we need to fight to expel the gentiles who are interfering with our conquest of this holy land," he said.

CIVICS NEWS Comment: In case Christians are tempted to agree with the Rabbis, don't forget that the Christian faith does not recognize ethnic distinctions. Christians are called to love even their enemies. [This rules out killing them.]

Also, in the Bible, Israel's occupation of the Promised Land was conditional. If Israel wasn't obedient, they could not possess the land. They rejected their Messiah when he walked among them, and then they were expelled from Jerusalem in 70 A.D. The Jewish people per se, have not yet received and obeyed their Messiah, and are still in disobedience. It is therefore wrong for Christians to support this un-biblical occupation of the land.
