The party of Lincoln: destroying the republic for 150 years

Alan Stang points out that the Republican Party was the first party with Communists within its ranks. He argues that the party of Lincoln was "Red from the start," as the forty-eighters who fled the failed communist revolution in Germany came to the U.S., helped form the Republican Party, joined the rabid radical abolitionists, and became some of Lincoln's best officers and soldiers in the Union Army.
